Leading New International Airlines in South Asia - South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2017

Himalaya Airlines received its first ever international award for “Leading New International Airlines in South Asia” at South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2017 event held at Equator Village, Addu City, Maldives on October 28, 2017. This award honors the efforts undertaken towards developing and expanding services and has given a tremendous boost to H9 family to excel further and rise higher in the aviation sector.

Inaugural Flight to Dammam, Saudi Arabia

Himalaya Airlines reiterates its commitment towards strengthening the connectivity in the Middle East market with the inaugural flight of its new route connecting Kathmandu directly to the city of Dammam in Saudi Arabia. Himalaya Airlines is the first and only Nepalese Airline to operate direct flights between both cities meeting the strong demand from air travellers, especially Nepalese.

Inaugural Flight to Dubai, UAE

Continuing to strengthen its network in the Middle-East region, Himalaya Airlines, Nepal’s fast growing premium carrier, successfully launch its first direct service between Kathmandu and Dubai on April 28, 2017 with 100% flight load. His Excellency Saeed Hamdan Al Naqbi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Nepal jointly inaugurated the ceremony along with government officials and the airline’s officials.

Third Airbus A320 – 9N-ALW

Himalaya Airlines’ third new Airbus A320-214 aircraft arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal from Hamburg, Germany on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 10:45 am NST. The aircraft, with the registration number 9N-ALW, was welcomed by a ceremonial water cannon salute after it touched down the ground.

The airline held a special welcome ceremony on the ramp of Tribhuvan International Airport to the much-anticipated arrival. Guest of Honor at the event who officiated at the welcome ceremony together were Himalaya Airlines’ President – Zhao Guo Qiang, Vice President- Administration, Vijay Shrestha along with H9 senior management team.

Inaugural Flight to Yangon, Myanmar

Himalaya Airlines successfully launched its scheduled flight to Yangon, Myanmar today carrying passengers directly to the destination as an initiative to strengthen direct connections of about 300,000 Nepalese in Myanmar to visit their homeland.

His Excellency Lwin Oo, the Ambassador of Myanmar to Nepal, Mr. Suresh Acharya, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MOCTCA) and Mr. Vijay Shrestha, Vice President- Administration of Himalaya Airlines were also on board amongst the passenger of the first flight.

Inaugural Flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Himalaya Airlines celebrated its inaugural flight to Kuala Lumpur with 100% seat factor, marking the airline’s 3rd destination after Doha and Colombo.

The launch of the flight service was inaugurated by Honorable Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MOCTA), Mr. Jiwan Bahadur Shahi, Mr. Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane, Joint Secretary of MOCTA, Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board and Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail, Charge d’affaires a.i., Embassy of Malaysia were also on board the maiden flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Second Airbus A320 – 9N-ALV

Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal-China Joint Venture Airline, welcomed its second brand new Airbus 320-214 into its fleet, at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal today at 11:04 am NST. The aircraft, with the registration number 9N-ALV, was welcomed by a ceremonial water cannon salute after it touched down, arriving from Hamburg, Germany.

Honorable Minister of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mr. Jeeban Bahadur Shahi, graced the ceremony of welcoming the aircraft with Mr. Devnanda Upadhaya, General Manager of TIA, along with high level officials from CAAN. The much-anticipated arrival was witnessed by Himalaya Airlines’ Vice President- Administration, Vijay Shrestha, Vice President – Operations, Jatinderpal Singh Dhillon, and H9 senior management team.

Inaugural Flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Himalaya Airlines announces its most awaited second destination: Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka as the airline commences its passenger services on the to Colombo route with effect from October 1, 2016.

After an overwhelming response received from the previous 2 non-scheduled flights to Colombo, this route is found to be very potential. It is an important market for tourism promotion of both countries. Flying to this destination will definitely promote tourism between two nations along with generating new business opportunities.
