Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal - China joint venture airline, resumed its operations to Dubai on February 14, 2021, after a long gap. The Airlines first took off to Dubai International Airport on April 28, 2017 connecting with Abu Dhabi via free shuttlebus for onwards passengers. However with increased passenger traffic direct flight to Abu Dhabi International Airport was initiated from March 31, 2019 instead of Dubai.

With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases across Kathmandu valley, Himalaya Airlines yet again came frontward extending its continued support to various hospitals around the valley for the prevention of spread of coronavirus across the communities. Himalaya Airlines and Yeti Airlines have entered into a strategic business partnership for integration of network, expansion of sales growth and for gradual extension of support in e-commerce functionalities of both the companies. First agreement to this effect of Application Programming Interface (API) was signed by the representatives of both the companies at a small ceremony held today, January 27, 2021.

Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal - China joint venture airline, took off to their first high altitude destination, Lhasa for a test flight on January 19, 2021. Lhasa is the religious and administrative capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, famous for its history and religious landmarks, attracting tourists from all over the world. The test flight operation is in line with company’s commercial plan to introduce scheduled flights to Lhasa during summer of 2021.

Subsequent to the Government of Nepal’s decision to resume schedule international flights from September 01, 2020, Himalaya Airlines has been permitted to operate schedule flights to Chongqing, Kuala Lumpur and Abu Dhabi, where PCR tests are conveniently available. On other sectors, where PCR tests are constrained, charter repatriation flights will continue as per government decisions.
